Dr. Workman currently serves as the Innovator in Residence for HPU, a testament to his lifelong commitment to the development of others. Throughout his career, he has been a strong advocate for professional development and focused on leaving the dental industry a better place for dentists and patients.   Students from across the university listened to Dr. Workman’s story and asked questions during the Life Skills Seminar in the Callicutt Life Skills Theater. When asked by a student what advice he would give upcoming graduates, Dr. Workman responded, “I’d tell every single one of you to commit to getting yourself a mentor. For every one of you, there are a dozen people in your life who will want to help you learn something and make a difference in the world.” Entrepreneurship student Grady Newton plans to use Dr. Workman’s advice in his future connections at HPU and after graduating. “The one thing that stuck out to me is when Dr. Workman shared how he learned about the importance of working together with a vast majority of people, and how that is better than working harder and smarter,” said Newton, a junior from Wallburg, North Carolina. “In entrepreneurship, you need to find the connections that will help you the most. Dr. Qubein having connections with innovators like Dr. Workman and letting us hear what they have to say is incredible.”       Tags: [Dental Support Organization](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/dental-support-organization), [Heartland Dental](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/heartland-dental), [Community Involvement](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/community-involvement), [Dental Student](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/dental-student), [In the News](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/in-the-news) ### Related Articles ## [Heartland Dental Monthly Growth Spotlight – June 2026](https://blog.heartland.com/heartland-dental-monthly-growth-spotlight-june-2026) *( read )* Topics: [Dental Support Organization](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/dental-support-organization), [Heartland Dental](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/heartland-dental), [Community Involvement](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/community-involvement), [Dental Student](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/dental-student), [In the News](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/in-the-news) ## [Celebrating 5 Years of Stronger Dental Together with American Dental Partners](https://blog.heartland.com/celebrating-5-years-of-stronger-dental-together-with-american-dental-partners) *( read )* Topics: [Dental Support Organization](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/dental-support-organization), [Heartland Dental](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/heartland-dental), [Community Involvement](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/community-involvement), [Dental Student](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/dental-student), [In the News](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/in-the-news) ## [Heartland Dental Named to Newsweek’s America’s Greatest Workplaces in Health Care 2026 For Second Consecutive Year](https://blog.heartland.com/heartland-dental-named-to-newsweeks-americas-greatest-workplaces-in-health-care-2026-for-second-consecutive-year) *( read )* Topics: [Dental Support Organization](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/dental-support-organization), [Heartland Dental](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/heartland-dental), [Community Involvement](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/community-involvement), [Dental Student](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/dental-student), [In the News](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/in-the-news) ### Subscribe to The Chronicles of Marketing Newsletter - [Heartland Dental Blog](https://blog.heartland.com) - Articles by Topic - [Dental Practice Ownership](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/dental-practice-ownership) - [Careers in the Dental Industry](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/careers-in-the-dental-industry) - [Industry Insights](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/industry-insights) - [In the News](https://blog.heartland.com/topic/in-the-news) - [Career Opportunities](https://jobs.heartland.com/careers-home/) - [Practice Management & Transition](https://heartland.com/affiliations/?_ga=2.26866429.1519429506.1623942221-1998440239.1613661303) - - - - - - © 2021 Heartland Dental All Rights Reserved - [(866) 929-0040](tel:8586331915) ```json { "@context" : "https://schema.org", "@type" : "BlogPosting", "author" : { "@type" : "Person", "name" : "Heartland Dental", "url" : "https://blog.heartland.com/author/heartland-dental" }, "dateModified" : "2022-11-22T15:43:53.870Z", "datePublished" : "2022-11-22T15:43:53.000Z", "headline" : "Rick Workman, DMD Visits High Point University for Mentorship Opportunity with Students", "image" : [ "https://blog.heartland.com/hubfs/REW%20and%20HPU.png" ], "mainEntityOfPage" : { "@id" : "https://blog.heartland.com/rick-workman-visits-high-point-university", "@type" : "WebPage" }, "publisher" : { "@type" : "Organization", "logo" : { "@type" : "ImageObject", "url" : "https://blog.heartland.com/hubfs/Primary_Logo_RGB.png" }, "name" : "Heartland Dental" } } ```
